CDAS was one of more than 40 civil society groups that endorsed a joint briefing calling for the Scottish government to improve the way that it defines and measures Scotland’s progress and argues that Scotland’s flourishing depends on much more than GDP, and could be undermined by a narrow ‘growth-for- growth’s sake’ approach to policy decision-making. However, the organisers believe that the response from Cabinet Secretary John Swinney suggests that we have some way to go. They are keen to keep up momentum on this issue and would like to get input from all of you about what the next steps should be.
