The Scottish Government launches its consultation on its proposed Community Empowerment and Renewal Bill with the publication of a detailed Consultation Paper on 6 June.  CDAS aims to get a lively dialogue going around the important issues that are likely to be raised, such as:

  • How can we make it easier for communities to acquire and use underused public assets?
  • Should we strengthen the duties of public bodies to engage with communities and what would be an effective way of doing this?
  • What can we do to build the capacity that communities need to become effectively involved?

We are holding this public conference on the proposals, with the co-operation of the Scottish Government, to help to get that dialogue started. Scottish Government speakers and independent commentators will introduce the issues, but the main purpose of the day is to give people the chance to speak to each other and start thinking about what opportunities the proposals offer – or maybe miss.

The College is easily accessible by train from Queen Street and Central Stations, and parking is also available. Registration and refreshments will be available from 10am, and a light lunch will be provided.

The conference will be free, but advance registration is required.
