We often argue that, with the right resources, communities can help achieve a very wide range of outcomes. But, as we all know, ‘community’ is a word that is used to mean many different things. I was amused to see the Scottish Government putting out two press releases on the same day (5 October) headed:

• ‘Communities can help prevent flooding’ and
• ‘Initiative to get communities dancing launched’.

I hope that they don’t try to do both at the same time.
