The Scottish Government has developed a proposed common core of skills, knowledge and understanding and values for the children’s and young people’s workforce. A consultation sought views on the skills, knowledge and values that everyone should have if they work with children, young people or families. It is appropriate for anyone in any role (including volunteers). The ultimate aim is to ensure we have a “children’s workforce” who can instinctively:
- Work and communicate well together across disciplinary or agency boundaries
- Intervene early
- Tackle inequalities
- Enhance the capacity of individuals, families or communities (includes involving them in decisions that affect them and building on their strengths)
The closing date for responses was 15 June 2011.
