The Association of Scottish Community Councils has decided that it has no option but to cease trading as of 30th April next year, as a result of a 40% cut in funding. This will leave community councils without a national voice. Activities such as meetings will cease immediately. According to ASCC “The nature of the remit of the ASCC is such that major grant funders will not provide funding to the Association, because it exists to promote and support a part of the statutory sector.” John Swinney has written to all MSPs defending the funding allocation.
