A new mission and strategic plan has been published by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations. The plan “takes the national body for Scotland’s voluntary sector in a new, more citizen focused direction”. The new mission is “to support people to take voluntary action to help themselves and others, and to bring about social change.”
Through an “inclusive and sustainable approach”, SCVO plans to connect individuals with ways to get involved in their communities – through volunteering, working, training, giving, and trusteeship.
SCVO has also been arguing that “Third sector organisations hold the key to solving long-term unemployment in Scotland and should be given a leading role in getting people back into work.”
