Education against Marginalisation

| 0 comments

The bulletin of the cheesily named European project EDAM (Education Against Marginalisation) reports on the first European scientific research concerning the outcome of adult education in 8 European countries.  In general, the results show that after participating in adult education for approximately four months:

  • 44.2% of the participants report a better mastery of basic life competencies (activation) and experience more feelings of happiness, safety and control (internalization);
  • 37.4% participate in the community (participation) and experience social interactions (internalisation) more than before the program.

Based on these results, a toolkit for policy makers has been developed as well as an online evaluation tool for managers of adult education programs and institutions (available at www.socialinclusion.eu).
