This Scottish Government literature review concludes that there should be a range of policies to address the problems of concentrations of poverty, both in terms of avoiding the creation of new concentrations and addressing what is happening in existing neighbourhoods. Introducing mix as part of regeneration schemes can be successful if it is undertaken in a sensitive way with the full support of existing residents and minimum disruption, although this may be a tall order. The main conclusion is that mixed communities as a policy should not be seen as a panacea.
